Urumqi Hydrogen, Oil, Gas, and Power Integrated Energy Station – China’s First Large-Scale Hydrogen Refueling Station in Continuous Commercial Operation
Project Overview
In May 2024, the domestically leading hydrogen equipment provider, Guofu Hydrogen Energy, completed the integration and testing of AihyTech’s 100 Nm³/h PEM electrolyzer. The electrolyzer had already undergone full-system acceptance testing at Guofu Hydrogen Energy’s facility in Zhangjiagang in April. This hydrogen production equipment will be deployed in an integrated hydrogen production and refueling station, paired with a 200 kg/12h skid-mounted hydrogen refueling system, and is now operational to provide hydrogen refueling services for local fuel cell logistics vehicles.

In July 2024, Guofu Hydrogen Energy’s Longshengda Integrated Energy Station, located in the Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone, officially commenced operations. As Xinjiang’s first comprehensive energy station integrating oil, gas, hydrogen, and electric services, it boasts a daily hydrogen refueling capacity of 1 ton, sufficient to meet the needs of over 10 hydrogen-powered heavy trucks, with plans to expand services to 600+ vehicles in the future. The station utilizes AihyTech’s PEM electrolyzer and Guofu Hydrogen Energy’s Balance of Plant (BOP) system, marking Urumqi’s inaugural deployment of such integrated on-site hydrogen production, purification, and refueling technology. This collaborative PEM-based hydrogen production and refueling station project between AihyTech and local partners represents a significant milestone for Xinjiang’s hydrogen energy industry development.
The 100 Nm³/h PEM electrolyzer delivered by AihyTech is a megawatt-scale product with a dynamic response time ≤6 seconds, startup time ≤3 minutes, and the flexibility to adapt to fluctuating wind and solar power generation, enabling efficient green hydrogen production. The system achieves a hydrogen purity exceeding 99.999% and a DC energy consumption of ≤4.3 kWh/Nm³, significantly below industry averages. Since its deployment in July, the system has maintained an average monthly hydrogen output of 0.56 ton, with cumulative production exceeding 50,000 tons. Daily peak production has reached 82.43 kg, supporting refueling services for 15 local hydrogen fuel cell trucks (including cold-chain vehicles and heavy-duty trucks). The project integrates hydrogen production, storage, refueling, and traditional energy supply, forming a closed-loop "green power–green hydrogen–hydrogen mobility" system. By directly utilizing locally generated wind and solar power for on-site hydrogen production, the station eliminates energy losses associated with hydrogen transportation while reducing operational costs for logistics fleets.
